The Girl is Back in Town
Wednesday, January 25, 2006
After some southern exposure during the holidays Jane Eliz started the year off in smooth acoustic style at the Newington Inn, Petersham. Zero Six was opened with a new rendition of the Eliz classic "Spend a Little Time" that set the tone for the evening and, perhaps, has underlined a new years resolution of innovation & inspiration from one of Sydney's leading live acoustic performers. This dazzling beginning to the first set of the year was greeted by loud applause that turned to cheers of delight when Jane punched out the first few chords of “Bright Side”. A recent addition to the set, but fast becoming a crowed favourite, "Bright Side" is a contagiously delightful pop ballad that speaks of fragile moments in our relationships with others… but, I digress, …..In simple truth Eliz’s “Bright Side” is a delicious musical journey that leaves you wishing it wasn’t a live gig and you could hit the replay button on the DVD. But then, if it was a DVD, you would't want to delay “Did You Know”, “Misty Lines”, or “Free (hands in my pocket song)” from gracing your acoustic senses the way Jane performed them tonight. If you missed it you simply missed out. All eyes & ears were focused on the artist and her craft. Use this first performance as a guideline and 2006 holds unlimited possibilities for the talented & charismatic Jane Eliz. AJ.
